It’s so cute the way Hermione is trying to make friends in this scene. And even sad because she’s ignored twice.
Actually what I love about this is she’s looking at an older student’s work. And I think that’s a Slytherin girl? Yeah it is. (props for whoever put that Slytherin and Gryffindor study session together, btw.) anyway what I love is she’s kind of going around to different kinds of kids. Older Slytherin girl, the Gryffindor boys. How much do you want to bet she was following Ravenclaws around before this? Or trying to make friends with the Patils, or other Gryffindor girls?
Hermione’s the most like any of us than Harry or Ron, I think. She’s the book-girl, the one who probably spent the majority of her childhood sitting in a corner reading while the rest of the class was busy socializing. She probably felt like all of us have felt at some point- like they were different, like they didn’t belong; and then WHOA! Lo and behold, turns out she IS different! She’s a Witch! She’s special, she’s got magic, and she’s going to a place where she’s like everyone else! We all dreamed about it, we all WANTED that, we all wanted to go away to a place where we were a part of something that made sense, a place that we fit- and then she still can’t make friends. And maybe she looks at the red and gold tie and wonders if the Hat put her in the wrong place. Like maybe that Lion on her chest should be an Eagle. She knows she’s the brainiac, she knows it, she says it- Books, cleverness. What must it be like to get what you dreamed of- that you are special and have a place you belong- and then to believe you were put in the wrong place once you got there?
I mean we know, in the end, Hermione’s a Gryffindor. She embodies the strong, brave, brilliant witch that gives pride to the house- but nobody starts out the way they end up. Until Halloween of that first year, she was a lonely little girl with books. Everyone saw her as the bossy, opinionated, know-it-all when I think really she was just trying to bond with people the only way she knew how. With facts, and people see it as being rude when she’s just ridiculous honest and is too young to know how to channel that honesty in a constructive way.
God I don’t even know if I ever had a point with this but FUCK I love Hermione.
Wow okay you win.
You’re one of Glamour’s new faces of Hollywood. Do you feel like one?
[Puts on a mock glamour face and breathes in a sexy voice.] Hell, yeah.
I’m crying like a little baby!
I’m COMPLETELY fucking serious! Finally a Disney movie where the dude asks for consent before kissing all up on the princess! CONSENT WIN!!!!
Literal word-for-word playback: “I could kiss you! Uh…I could…I mean, I’d like to…may I..we me? I mean, may we? Wait, what?” And then she kisses him on the cheek and says, "We may." And then they kiss all dramatically Disney style with music.
Nice job, on this one folks…
I was tagged by chaps-01, here are the rules and questions.
Rule 1: Always post the rules
Rule 2: Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and write 11 new ones
Rule 3: Tag
11some people and link them to the post
Rule 4: Tell them you have…
1. What book are you most glad to have picked up in the bookstore? Why? (One that you weren’t looking forward to buy.)
First of all this was years ago, but I’m so glad I bought I am Number Four because now it has become one of my all-time favorite series (despite the fact that the fandom is basically inexistent)
2. Do you prefer books or e-books when you’re traveling?
I’ve always preferred real books, just because I like being able to flip through it, and dog-ear pages to come back to, and I just like the feel of it in my hand- but I don’t have anything against e-books.
3. Do you like reading previews or spoilers of upcoming books?
YES, and one of my worst habits is skimming through a book before I’ve read it and glancing at random pages, so I often end up spoiling something and then hating myself for it.
4. Do you like reading in coffee shops?
Not really- I prefer my own bed or somewhere quiet in my house.
5. Is there a secondary storyline you like more than the main one?
I always love the secondary story lines that the authors adds because they give the book so much depth and really grab my attention, stuff like that. I don’t know if I’ve ever liked a secondary storyline better than the main plot, but… hmm.. this is tough.
6. Do you prefer male or female heroes? Villains?
Between male and female heroes, no- I guess if it’s a female then I can connect/relate to them more, but there’s really not much of a difference in my mind. For villains, I also don’t really have a preference, but it seems like in a lot of the books i’ve read female villains are more common, so they seem more evil to me- they often have some terrible plot of revenge or something.
7. Would you prefer to visit Hogwarts as a muggle or Olympus as a mortal?
Probably… Hogwarts as a muggle. I feel like even if I was a muggle, there would still be so much to do and check out. But on Olympus, idk I think I would be too intimidated by the gods and goddesses. And you don’t really go to Olympus just to “visit”- in the books whenever they went to Olympus they were on a mission or some dangerous quest
8. If you were to be reaped, what skill will you show to the sponsors?
My skill for camouflage. I doubt I would actually survive the huger games, because my instinct would be to run and hide somewhere and hope nobody killed me, and in the process I would die of dehydration or starvation of something. I don’t have many other skills when it comes to fighting to the death.
9. Do you prefer a book full of action and plot twists or a calmer one but with teary situations?
I guess it depends what type of mood I’m in. I like action stories, but I also love the types of stories that are really emotional and make you get really attached to the characters- I tend to cry, a lot, when I read (or watch movies), but that just makes the experience better.
10. Do you prefer movies or series adaptations?
Honestly, both. I look forward to series adaptions for months, go to midnight premieres, watch them a million times, etc, and I love having this shared excitement with everyone else who is already a fan. But I’ve also fallen in love with a lot of regular movies that I didn’t expect to like, so yeah, I guess I’d have to say I don’t really have a preference.
11. How often do you browse for books that aren’t on your wish list?
Well whenever I’m in a book store (which is pretty often) I check out a lot of books that aren’t on my wish list, I pick up a couple books here and there and maybe read the back to see if it’s something I would like. I always love finding new series that I’m interested in. :)
1. Name five book characters whom you would like to have lunch with.
2. What is your favorite place to read?
3. What book or series would you most like to be a part of?
4. Scariest/best cliffhanger?
5. Which character in any book do you think you are the most similar to? (Which character have you connected the most with?)
6. Who is your favorite villain from a book?
7. What book has made you cry the most?
8. What is your favorite mystical creature from any book series?
9. Do you think you would get along with the main characters from your favorite books?
10. On average, how many times do you think you go back and reread your favorite books?
11. Which book character do you imagine would have the best wardrobe (in your opinion)?
